This frame features welded anchor straps which hold the frame firmly into the concrete trench. Steel angle frame is available fabricated per drawings with mitered and welded corners, or in long lengths with prefabricated corners for installation in the field. Some grating sizes may need to be shimmed in order to accommodate standard angle dimensions (see table below). Frames can be provided mill finished, galvanized or with a coat of manufacturer’s standard black paint.

Part 2: 
Product 2.2 Steel Frames 

1. Embedded angle frames to be ASTM A36 carbon steel by Ohio Gratings, Inc., or approved equal. 
2. Frames shall have mitered corners and welded joints and shall be sized to match grating depth. Grating may be shimmed to accommodate standard angle dimensions. 
3. Vertical and horizontal legs of frame shall have 1/4½ minimum wall thickness. 
4. Anchor straps shall be welded to the back of the angle frame at approximately 18½ centers. (Note: closer spacing may be specified at the discretion of the architect/engineer.) 
5. Finish: (Mill finish – as fabricated, galvanized or manufacturer’s standard black paint at the discretion of the architect/engineer.)
